I just watched this video on yahoo about farmers markets http://www.yahoo.com/s/659897 And I got this flash of San Jose Costa Rica and I feel a pull. I will do my best to capture this below.
Small and cozy and family
Connections and being in the right place
Magic
There was this energy this flow, since the rainbows were in town, perhaps it was more
Costa Rica is small and that run into each other over again vibe was oh so present
San Jose is even smaller
Big Parks in the middle of town
Spanish speaking locals with enough English speaking foreigners to make me feel comfortable
My Spanish grows and I begin to dream in it
A cab ride anywhere in the city is but 1 colones
Taking cabs everywhere of distance or if time is short
And saturday morning there is a farmers market
And little known there is an organic farmers market
We go in the rain
Fresh white cheese and bread
Eggs and the fruit
The fruit is all so so exotic, tropical, unconventional
It is like magic
The rain is always falling and beautiful a few times a day
After writing this I found another video much closer to my experience. While in Costa Rica I spent time in the South Caribbean at a place called Punta Mona. I met Steven there and he is featured in this video about sustainable farming in Costa Rica that does more justice to the Costa Rican experience.
